The question is, “when do you feel most productive?” The most productive days is when I get up at 4:45am to go to a morning workout. I get so much done those days; wheres if I go workout later, it is still good, but I get nothing done beforehand and so I am not as energized with a later workout usually.

It’s fascinating how the timing of a workout can influence the rest of the day. Those early morning hours often seem to hold a special kind of “wake up with Jesus”, just He and I as I drive to workout. Many times I use my drive time to talk to God about my day and the people in my life. The world is quiet, distractions are minimal, and there’s a certain satisfaction in knowing you’re already ahead of the game as the sun rises.
On those mornings, after the workout, there’s an invigorating sense of achievement that carries over into other tasks. It’s as if breaking a sweat before dawn unlocks a motivation and focus that no other time does for me, allowing me to tackle anything and everything, even the mundane, with enthusiasm.
When I schedule my workouts later in the day, my energy fluctuates, as I haven’t felt as productive. If I feel like I’ve done nothing before then, I just may cancel my class and do what I need to do, but very slowly. But what’s even better is if I make my morning workouts happen, get my day done, and end the day with another workout. These times are amazing.
