Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing: Part One

April 27, 2026

Tray of chocolate brownies cut into squares with sea salt on top

As my children were growing up, I would pose a question to them: if I added a small amount of dog poo to the brownies, would they ever be able to tell? The answer would likely be no, as it’s so subtle. This highlights the importance of understanding God’s Word, so we can recognize if anything has been distorted. The world is full of false preachers, very popular, who are leading many people astray.

One concern that has weighed on my mind in the past is the fear of drifting away from the Lord. I feel uneasy when I observe individuals, whose books I’ve bought or whose teachings I’ve listened to, appearing to be following the Lord, only to later see them stray— or wonder if they were ever truly saved to begin with. I’ve seen this with people I know, too. So crazy to see someone on fire for the Lord and then act as if they never knew Him.

One might wonder how someone so close to God could stray, and it makes me think about my own faith. If they could fall away so easily, how simple would it be for me? I find myself asking, in the voice of Linus from Charlie Brown Christmas, “Is there anyone out there who will preach the true Word of God?” The false teachers make most of what they say Biblical and then they twist ever so slightly to not lose their following. This is why these wolves have so much money. Nothing wrong with money but they are taking their audience for fools. Those who have led many astray continue to be captivating speakers, sharing beautiful messages. If you’re not careful, you might overlook the underlying issues.

This is why it is so important to stay close to the Lord and be in His Word daily, ask for wisdom and discernment, and have godly accountability. Surrounding yourself with a community that follows the Lord can provide support and encouragement on your spiritual journey. Engaging in daily prayer and reading the Word puts your mind and heart on Christ, allowing you to navigate life’s challenges with grace and strength.

My intention in sharing this is to encourage you to explore the reasons behind it and the ease with which one can follow someone or something that sounds believable. This is why I share with people from diverse backgrounds around the globe. We can have good conversation about what each other believes and eyes start opening when things don’t line up.

In my research of false teachers, I have been taken aback by certain findings. I find myself filtering through podcasts and books because, regardless of how eloquently someone speaks or how much truth they incorporate into their message, it is all too easy to be swayed by the charismatic lies they present.

They add to or take away from God’s Word. You must know God’s Word well to be able to discern. Before I read a book or listen to a sermon, I pray for discernment. God will give you wisdom and discernment, if you ask for it, but I can tell you that even being in Bible Study Fellowship since 1998, these teachers preach so well, I have to still pray for discernment.

First, I will outline beliefs along with their definitions, followed by a list of various wolves and their contradictory beliefs, including direct quotes that oppose God’s Word. (Simply click the highlighted section to access it.) If you perceive the content below as, “Oh, they share some truth… and I understand the truth… so I’ll continue to watch or listen…” remember the analogy of the poop in the brownies. It’s mixed in so thoroughly that you might never detect it. This is precisely what “angels of light” excel at—mimicking. Staying under the influence of these individuals is highly dangerous as they are slowly changing what you believe. Pay attention to the warnings; do not disregard them.

Also the definitions below may represent all these false teachers but I have spent much time on researching that I wanted to make sure I had everything I can look and see for myself. You will also see that many of these preachers are friends with the others. God’s Word says you will become who you hang around, listen to, and follow. “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm” Proverbs 13:20

Eisegesis
The interpreter injects his own ideas into the text, making it mean whatever he wants. All these false teachers do this.
TRUTH: Exegesis is the exposition or explanation of a text based on a careful analysis. The word exegesis literally means “to lead out of.” That means that the interpreter is led to conclusions by following the text.

Word of Faith
They believe faith is a force that can be used to “speak” things into existence, elevating human words to a level of authority that belongs only to God. Prosperity theology sees the Holy Spirit as a power to be put to use for whatever the believer wills. Too many people have fallen for this. Pay attention if you hear someone pray like this. It sounds nice but they, nor you, nor me, are Jesus who can speak whatever and command it to happen.
TRUTH: The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit is a Person who enables the believer to do God’s will. Pray “God’s Will be done”, not theirs, yours, or mine.

Prosperity, Wealth, Health
This theology sees the Holy Spirit as a power to be put to use for whatever the believer wills. God wants to make poor people wealthy, sad people happy, and insecure people self-confident.
TRUTH: The Bible teaches God wants to make dead people alive, wicked people righteous, and enemies His friends.

Little gods Doctrine
This belief is that we have divinity and power putting us on the same level as God.
TRUTH: The Bible teaches there is only one true God. We are mere humans. We will never be God.

Seed of Faith
The belief if you give, then you will receive much back. So many people give in fear or in hopes to get back.
TRUTH: The Bible teaches God wants a cheerful giver, not giving out of compulsion.

Direct Revelation from God
The belief that people heard from and/or saw God. This is seen in many false teachers today and it is easy to follow the traps that the enemy sets up because it sounds nice.
TRUTH: God speaks to us today through His Word. Note: There have been many muslims who have turned to Christ after having visions and dreams that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. If a person says they have had visions and dreams about Jesus speaking to them, I would be very cautious and look to see who they are learning this from. They probably have someone speaking truth into their life mixed with false. Again, this is why it is important to study the Scriptures so you will discern and be wise. I have had many dreams that have prompted me to pray for someone or they come to mind, but that is simply the Holy Spirit putting someone on our hearts to pray for.

Freemason
Salvation can be gained by man’s good works, Jesus is just one of many equally wise prophets, He approaches the lodge in spiritual darkness and ignorance, and the Great Architect of the Universe is representative of all gods in all religions. Many of these pastors have been part of this “secret club” as well as many of our forefathers. Masonry contradicts the clear teaching of Scripture on numerous issues. As a result, a Christian should not be a member of any organization that has any connection with Freemasonry.
TRUTH: We are saved through grace, the shed blood of Jesus Christ. We are to walk in the Light as He is in the Light. There is the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

She has said that the White House grounds are holy.
Can I just ask, “WHERE are the true followers of Christ in and around the president?” It is insane what I see happening with this woman having such power over Trump.

Note: If you are following Joel’s teaching, this life on earth will be your best life now, BUT, if you are a follower of Christ, your best life is yet to come.

God has now revealed to me that I have done all I can…” and “…I have decided that Art has abandoned our marriage.”
She attends and preaches at Steven Furtick’s, Elevation Church. I didn’t care to listen to her message here, but shows that she’s there and thinks Steven’s preaching is spot on. This is disappointing to me as I have had many of her books and have had to throw them away.

“I am not a sinner….it is a lie from the pit of hell”
She is good friends with Joel Olsteen and has been a guest preacher at his church.
This is disappointing as many years ago I would listen to her but I would catch the poo ever so slightly. She has become more and more exposed in the light, thankfully but yet many still follow her. I have watched quite a few of her sermons and interviews and I have found my stomach sick especially when she doesn’t seem to manipulate people to give her money.

“Islam is misunderstood…we (Christians) are closer to them than we think we are”
I never listened to one sermon of his but when he was still alive, I was reading into his interesting life. This is the guy that everyone said brought many to the Lord. But now I wonder, how many of those people said words they believed would save them because they were on a mountain top high? How many think there is security is words? This is a slippery slope. I remember thinking it was so strange that the very few times he was home, he attended a different church than his wife and children because they “didn’t believe” the same thing. I also found it interesting many said he was a wonderful husband and father yet he was hardly home. Perspective is an interesting thing.
