The Power of Something So Little Making a Big Difference

One day recently one of my blessings was going through a lot of my old calendars I had saved to use as scrap pieces for junk journals and such someday down the road because I thought they were too pretty to toss. Anyhow, she cut out some things and was so excited to show me what she found. Throughout these pages were prayers I jotted down that she found amazing.

There were prayers I had written about aunts, uncles, and cousins, showing her that these people, some I wasn’t ever close to, were important to me because God had put them on my heart, and they are important to Him. She realized I prayed for people’s salvation whether I had only talked to them once or many times.

One particular prayer was for the ability to walk without pain, a privilege that many may take for granted but one that she knows I cherish deeply. She has seen me not be able to walk at three different seasons of life now. I think this also showed her how determined I was to get up and “do hard things” when most would just sit on their butt allowing muscle atrophy to overtake their entire health and way of life, never to walk again. She knows this was always warned of me as sitting idle causes a lot of damage. I wonder how many people are doing this to themselves and don’t even realize they are causing their own health problems. Get off yo butts, people. It is not a good way of life to cause yourself damage to your body.

She recognizes that I write in a special journal just for her, a dedicated space where I write down my prayers for her. Over time, she stumbled upon her little thankful book I write for her, a wonderful exercise in gratitude that encourages me to notice and appreciate the inner beauty I see in her.

Someday, when she is ready, she will be able to look back and see all the prayers, reflections, and emotions captured within those pages of the prayer journal I have for her. For now, these entries serve as personal prayers and thoughts I write for myself and for my Lord, that helps me put my thoughts and feelings on paper. They are reminders that even in the ebb and flow of life, there is always room for gratitude and growth.

I have always loved writing so it is very easy for me to pick up a pen and write out a note or letter to someone that means a lot to me. The ability to express thoughts and feelings through the written word has always brought me joy. I can type even faster, which allows me to get my thoughts down quickly and precisely, so I love to write here, too.

Writing is not just a simple act for me; it is an art form. The words we choose can uplift, comfort, or even change someone’s perspective. I think I was just surprised at what little “chicken scratch” made such a huge difference in her life; Just wow! There’s something incredibly fulfilling about knowing that a few quickly written lines can evoke such strong emotions or provide much needed encouragement to someone. This realization reminds me of the profound impact that writing can have, not only on the writer but also on the receiver. I pray she will always remember how important people’s souls are from seeing what I wrote and that she, too, continues to have a depth of love for people that is beyond her age.
