As we pull into our driveway, I take a moment to appreciate the many blessings that God has given us, things we only dreamt about in the past.
Joyfully, I said, “Wow! Look at our yard with all those beautiful yellow flowers blooming and the vibrant patches of green that stand taller than the rest! Our neighbors’ lawns are so ordinary, with their bright green, perfectly manicured grass.Yet look! We are sharing seeds with them so they will have a little yellow, too!”
Those with me chuckle, one knowing she has taught me to perceive things in a different light over the years.
Not long ago, I might have said, “Wow! Look at our neighbors’ lawns, so perfectly trimmed and green while ours is full of weeds and you can tell where the animals go to the bathroom because it stands out higher in places.” (FREE fertilizer! ha!)
However, I have learned to view the glass as half full rather than half empty.
So how do you view life? How can you find contentment in the seemingly mundane? How can you make your negative a positive? These need to be intentional thoughts. Often if you take a moment to go through your five senses, you will be able to find the beauty in everything.
Dear Lord, may we never take Your beautiful creation for granted, allowing us to view life through Your eyes. Plus the grass is always greener on the other side. I am thankful we can live life out loud, bright, bold, beautiful, shiny, and salty, for Your glory!
