Forty plus years ago, I was a Sparky in a program at our church called Awana. We had memory verses and songs. I liked the singing but not so much the Bible memory except that we got prizes for doing it. I honestly was a child who didn’t understand what I was memorizing.
As I’ve gotten older, I have meditated much on the Word of God, studying what it means. One verse that stands out to me is:
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of Truth.”
2 Timothy 2:15
As an ambassador for Christ, it is my desire to be diligent in studying and applying God’s Word to my life so I represent Him well. Do I fail? Absolutely! Just ask my family and closest friends; however, I would hope they would see I desire Truth to be of utmost importance to my relationship not only with God but with others.
I am sure everyone knows someone who has lied whether that be a white lie or something bigger. My thought is there is no such thing as a white lie. There is nothing innocent about lying. A lie is a lie, plain and simple. If you start small, such as with a white lie, it gets easier and easier to lie and manipulate more and more.
If anyone is dishonest to someone else, that relationship starts to become severed little by little to the point of that someone else possibly never trusting you again. Sometimes you may be able to try to earn back that trust, but it takes so much longer, and you may never get it back. It’s like toothpaste coming out of the tube. You cannot put it back.
Have you known someone to slander your character or someone else’s? People tend to want to tarnish someone else’s reputation by speaking badly and/or falsely about someone else to cover up their own wrongs. It seems to be much easier for some people who have gone so far in their own sins to continue to bring someone else down so all eyes are off of them.
Some people lie to cover up a lie to cover up a lie, and they lie so much they forget which lies they’ve told and to whom. It gets very messy very quickly and can sound really foolish, downright stupid.
I cannot imagine having to live a life of deception because I would think that would be miserable and convicting, to say the least.

“Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.”- Sir Walter Scott
Let me share a little bit of advice that should be obvious, in my opinion, but be honest even when it’s hard to own your wrong. You will gain more trust and respect.
Blessings,
Jennifer
