What is Really Our Heart’s Desire?

The “Old Man” aka the father was probably raised to keep his feelings in his pocket because he didn’t need them so that when he grew up, he decided to only allow his angry feelings to come out. Once in awhile you see the sweet side of him, like making the most of the ruined dinner by taking his family to the Chinese restaurant and then on Christmas morning giving his firstborn the gift that he most wanted.

It IS a Wonderful Life!

In It’s a Wonderful Life, there are things that are out of George’s control but because he felt such responsibility for anything that went wrong, he put a very heavy burden on his shoulders which put him in a state of feeling out of control and his mind racing only causing more anxiety for himself. The more anxiety, the more breathing fast and heart rate speeds up, and then he becomes lightheaded, not being able to think straight anymore so he takes his frustration out on those he loves the most. He was then in a hopeless state of mind thinking everyone would be better off without him, that if he had never been born, none of this would’ve happened.

Freedom of Speech Does Not Excuse You from the Freedom of Consequence

This is a very slippery slope, Pam. Please think before you speak. There is a huge difference between hate speech and making threats to someone’s life.

Putting Yourself in Another’s Shoes

God continued to provide. My husband was doing night calls for I don’t know how many years just to make ends meet. Looking back, I don’t think I thought he was stressed because he never showed it. He was an amazing daddy who loved on his children when he got home instead of doing what the average guy did (watching tv or doing whatever without their family when they got home) I was blessed to have a guy who would help me when he got home, read to the children, and tuck them in. We had a very simple life but I loved it and I even had a neighbor tell me once he loved seeing us all out in the backyard running around and playing together the way families and children use to. He encouraged us to keep doing that.

Journey of a Prodigal

January 21, 2023 We are all prodigals, on our own path of the journey to know God. We have all strayed and walked away from God at one time or another, thinking we know best but all we do is get ourselves into things that are hard to get out of without the help of…… Continue reading Journey of a Prodigal

Are You a Misfit?

(Originally wrote December 2015) If you’re like me, during the Christmas season, you will put on your warm pajamas, get some hot cocoa with popcorn, and your warm blanket to snuggle up with your loved ones to watch the beloved, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”. I’ve watched that show since I was a little girl, and now…… Continue reading Are You a Misfit?

The Best Invitation of All

November 28, 2022 I was thinking back many years ago when my youngest wasn’t invited to birthday parties and thought back even further when I was younger and wasn’t invited much either. I also remember when I was in gym and we had teams and being one of the last ones picked, if not the…… Continue reading The Best Invitation of All

Finding Hope, Mercy, and Grace in a Parking Lot

July 20, 2022 It was a Wednesday when my youngest blessing and I were looking at kittens. She always wants to see the ones in the pet store when we are nearby. We hadn’t had kittens for about 30 years because: 1) my husband says he doesn’t like cats 2) my youngest seemed allergic to…… Continue reading Finding Hope, Mercy, and Grace in a Parking Lot
